Abstract

The high-quality development of county-level economies is a crucial link in achieving Chinese-style modernization. Currently, China's county-level economies seem to face a "middle-income trap" - characterized by the slowdown of effective investment, insufficient industrial competitive advantages, and widening urban-rural development gaps, all of which restrict the growth of  county-level economies. Therefore, to address these challenges, coordinating the development of county-level economies and  promoting industrial-urban integration have become key measures. Based on the analytical framework of "the Jinjiang  Experience" and the case studies of county-level economic development in Fujian Province, this paper finds that leveraging  resource endowments, promoting urban-rural integrated development, emphasizing real economy development, and focusing  on innovation will drive county-level economic growth. Subsequently, it proposes strategies such as focusing on advantageous  industries, developing key county-level industrial chains, driving development through innovation, promoting the bidirectional  flow of urban and rural resources, and vigorously supporting the private economy to advance high-quality county-level  economic development.
