In the era of globalization, the focus of social policy research has shifted from the traditional issues of industrial relations and state-market relations to global social pol- icy beyond the national boundaries. This study will review the process of this transition and explore the logical ground for shaping out a subject area of global social policy. It will present a number of reasons for the integration of welfare states in the developed countries with development studies concerning with people ’ s well-being in the develop- ing countries. The themes under debate in the global context also engage with the new is- sues of world development such as the ideals of inclusive development and sustainable growth, revealing the dynamic forces behind, that generate these ideals. Within this con- text, this study assesses the conditions of development for global social policy as one of the basic dimension of global governess.
