A Cross-Industry Approach to Sustainable Development; Lessons and Innovations in the Aviation Sector
This paper examines how aviation, policy, environment and green technology influence sustainability practice in the aviation industry. The analysis of 70 valid responses was conducted with the use of SPSS. Descriptive statistics, reliability tests, correlations, multiple regressions, and independent-samples t-test were used. The findings indicated good reliability in all the measures (alpha = .721-925). Correlation analysis indicated that there was significant negative relationship between aviation and environment (p < .05, r = -.294); other relationships were weak and not significant. Regression analysis showed that the combination of aviation, policy, environment and green technology were not significantly predictive of sustainability, F (4, 65) = 0.13, p = .97. The independent t- tests did not indicate significant gender differences among variables. These results indicate that although the environment-related concerns are being appreciated, the structural and policy-level considerations have not quite taken a form that can be measured by sustainability magnitude. The paper emphasizes that aviation-specific measures, including the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), improved regulatory systems, and collaborations between public and the private sector would be vital to address the challenge. The size of the sample is small and no advanced modeling is used, which can be improved as the next focus of study.
